Bird Jewelry

In MY MOTHER'S HOUSE, A Memoir, I reveal how a reprieve from expected death brought me into a new love - jewelry. First I bought it at flea markets and yard sales, then I learned to make it.

Since I began, my jewelry has been carried by the Lynn Donnager Collection in Beverly Hills, M. Cole in Century City and Santa Monica, the three Harari stores from Beverly Hills to Santa Monica, the Craft and Folk Art Museum Gift Store in Los Angeles, Freehand in West Hollywood and elsewhere.

Many years after I began seling my jewelry, I got a bird and fell in love with birds. There's a bird image in most of the jewelry that I personally wear. Here's my theme:
If you can't take your bird, wear bird jewelry!

If you are interested in any of the pieces that do not yet have a price or shopping cart, or if you have any questions, please email me.

Hand-carved wooden birds with green turquoise rondels. This particular green turquoise comes from a mine now closed.

These top beads are inside-painted glass. Someone actually paints inside these balls! The stone in the earwire and the beads hanging at the bottom of the chain are both iolite.

The turquoise beads are Peruvian opal - the color is true. The little black birds are vintage beads made from the famous black clay of Oajaca , Mexico. I used sterling silver here without antiquing it.

The red beads are cinnabar. Beneath them hang two small jade spheres and on the bottom I've put faceted garnet briolettes that set off the red of the cinnabar. Instead of earwires here, I've used beautiful leaf-shaped posts.
